Cycling with Eliza

A long, long, looooooong time ago I met a rather lovely person in Oak Grove, Eliza Janus. She was sweet, funny and friendly at a time when life in Murray, my home next to Oak Grove, was anything but. Over the years we’ve stayed in touch and lately she’s been very busy gathering her friends about her, setting up groups in-world as well in twitter & flickr. A few weeks back I received a message from her asking if I could spare five minutes for a photo and as one who often drops such requests on my friends how could I say no? I TPed over and was met with an idylic scene in which Eliza was sat on a bike – I hoped on, set my emote to charming smile No. 8 and snapped away!

Take a look at Eliza’s version, as well as her other friends joining her on her bike, on her flickr stream here.

Nightfall in St Helens…

I’ve been working hard over at my log cabin, mainly constructing the parts for a wooden lathe, but I’m never too busy to enjoy a sunset like this…

And who wouldn’t love sitting out on a night like this…

I knew I was right coming out here, even the Scamps have stopped exploring the forest and disturbing me. All is peace.

EDIT (3rd Nov 10): I took the two pictures above and wrote this short post waaaaay back in June or July, shortly before SL’s many glitches pissed me right off and I quit blogging for a while to let the blood pressure drop again. I re-scheduled it for 2011 meaning to post it once I calmed down, but once I had calmed down I got stuck into the Steal Head story. Anyhoo, now I’m getting more involved in St Helens again it is time to post this – especially as I’ve just moved the log cabin and replaced it with a small sawmill & log flume!

Steelhead Public Library’s Photography Exhibition

In between running up posters protesting about New Babbage’s illegal acts in Steelhead and brooding over the Tong bastards who broke into my surgery, I decided to take a trip over to the public library in Capital City and conduct some research into the fever that was spreading through the northern slums.

When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see that the library patrons had organised an exhibition on the history of that most wonderous of inventions, photography!

Almost the whole of the lower floor had been given over to informative displays and examples showing the evolution of this exciting science…

I recommend you head over to the library and take in this superb display – you can find it in Capital City here.

It’s a 360 Degree love affair…

I love – LOVE! – this neat little gizomo on Avatrian (huge TY to Osprey for finding it!). You simply enter a sim name and the X,Y & Z coordinates and in a few mins you have a 360 degree photo-view point thingy of that spot! How cool is that? This is the view from my camp in Stelhead St Helens. Go to the Avatrian Peek 360 site and try one for yourself!

Cali’s New Show

Way back in the mists of history I met Calligypian Christensen at Os’ photo studio and she took some pics of me. We’ve been friends ever since and every few months drop into one another’s lives. Usually this is at an art event Cali has organised and last week was just such an ocsasion. Over in Victoriana Square, the multi-talented Miss Christensen has opened a six week show of her amazing photography and I would urge everyone to drop in and see her great photos (and buy a few too – I have several in my gallery now and they are wonderful!)

SL Beauty: Rodeo Bay and Kahruvel Forest by Windlight

I was in Rodeo to re-taking a pic for the blog header so I could have it all in windlighty glory when two things happened. One I bumped into Doug who flew by in an amazing dive, loop and landing, and two I had the idea to replace the blog header more often with windlighty goodness 🙂

Here is Doug:

Grignano Photo Contest: Scale

Ey up! I came second in Osprey’s latest photo contest, Scale 🙂 Here are some shots from the evening as well as my winning shot and a link to my CNN iReport story on the evening. Pop over to Osprey’s studio to check out the great entries for Scale and pick up a notecard on the next contest, with the theme “Three”.

Windlight: Bodega Sunset

I’m soooo hapy with Windlight. Well, I’m actually happy with my new PC as it makes being in SL a dream, but Windlight is the shiny thing that focuses my attention :). And this is why…

How gorgeous is Bodega, eh?

Butterfly, The White Room and a gift from Jesper

I’m a lucky wee Burro, you know. Since I decided to go exploring and read lots of blogs I’ve met some wonderful people. I met Butterfly Laa via Osprey and Higbee and that’s how I found out about the photo contest her and her partner Jesper are running at the their great art studio in Akh, The White Room.

The White Room Studios

You can find out more about the contest at their blog, here. I really hope you join in because I can honestly say that some of the best fun I’ve had in SL has been entering photo contests.

Anyhoo, I have sent a story into CNN about The White Room’s latest contest and although it is still to be published (CNN are running slow due to the election coverage in the US) I bumped into Jesper whilst I took the above picture and he was kind enough to present me with a lovely gift – one of Buterfly’s wonderful photos! It now has a proud place in my own floating gallery and you can see it by visiting my island here and taking the teleporter to the gallery above. It’s called “Purple Swirls” and is on the third floor.
