Meanwhile, in Survivalcraft… Feed the beast!

In the next (1.23) update to Survivalcraft, Kaalus is adding a fun new mechanic to some of the animals; stubbornness! Apparently the horses will start refusing riders too ๐Ÿ˜€

Meanwhile, in Survivalcraft… Das (Geist) Boot

I was trying out another seed when I decided to follow the boat that strands you to find what happens to it. My investigations show that the bugger just floats on forever but whilst following it I saw something pretty funny… it seems the ship is a ghost ship!

Meanwhile, in Survivalcraft… A tour of the water lava cave!

I decided to film the strange lava and water cave that I found under an island out to sea. I’m not 100% happy with the quality of these videos, maybe it’s a limitation of filming on a tablet, or maybe the SCR app isn’t as good as I thought, but whatever the reason even this transposed at 720p and ‘high’ quality is a bit ropey ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Still, you can see the water and the lava flowing together in this subterranean room and not hissing into blocks of basalt. Weird, huh?

Meanwhile, in Survivalcraft… A world of islands awaits!

Now that I can record gameplay and get it up to YouTube from my tablet, I’ve been wondering what to actually record & publish and going with the age old advice of doing what you enjoy yourself I’m toying with recording 5 to 10 minute films of the initial exploration of random seeds.

Whilst toying with this plan I’ve been flying out to sea a lot to get a feel for how many islands there are out there and how far and in doing so I’ve found some lovely little islands that I’ve been motivate enough to take a picture of.

Ladies and gentlebumps, may I present my first collection of Survivalcraft islands ๐Ÿ™‚

Whilst over in Minecraft… Wandering through Kahruvel the movie, episode 3

In the third and final part of this first video tour of the Kahruvel shard, I start where I left off in episode two on the shores of the old northern lake. The sun rises above the long forgotten temple and I enjoy the spectacle before winding my way back through the forest via the snowy tundra back to the PJMT HQ cabin for a cake in Papa Burro’s cafe ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is the second part of my wanderings around the K-shard ๐Ÿ™‚

In this episode I pick up where I left off in episode 1, at the bottom of the inverted ziggurat unearthed in the desert plain. The fun thing about MCPE is that you can’t see who has built what. In SL that info was only a right click away, but here it remains a mystery and I like that. In this shard of the old forest I know I’ve built a lot of stuff, but equally I know I haven’t built it all…

Whilst over in Minecraft… Wandering through Kahruvel the movie, episode 1

I thought it was about tine I filmed a circuit of the Kahruvel shard discovered by Justin over at the PJMT. Here is part one showing the sights around the PJMT HQ building, past the mushroom mine and wheat farm to the old stone circle and out to the grim stone head staring out from stop the old hill. Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

Meanwhile, in Survivalcraft… Video Numero Uno!

Now that I’ve rooted my tablet and worked out how to record my gameplay, I’ve uploaded the first of an irregular series of videos documenting stuffz that interests me in Survivalcraft & Minecraft Picket Edition.

This first one shows how I’ve used a creative world in Survivalcraft to layout the main blocks available so I can test out new texture packs quickly and easily. It’s short and a bit rambling but here it is all the same ๐Ÿ™‚

The world seed is wowsers and the texture pack is called 1.22FanverModv4saturated.PNG from the community download section in-game.

Mobile me… Rooting, casting, editing and uploading for fun and (no) profit!

I’ve had a busy old day and no mistake. It started off with me rooting my old V1 Nexus, a nerve-wracking experience I’m in no hurry to go through again but thanks to this guide it wasn’t really all that hard. Still, oy vey.

Once I had rooted my N7, restored a backup and reinstalled my apps, I installed a nifty little app called SCR Screen Recorder that needed the rooted access in order that it can record whatever is happening on the screen.

I fired up Survivalcraft, found out that I’d forgotten to back up my worlds and therefore lost them all including Antland! Oh well, these things are transitory anyway. I recorded the first two and a half minutes of my creation of a new world just to see how the software worked. The file turned out to be 150Mb at 720p which is a little on the large side.

So I used an app called Video Trim to shrink the file size down to a more manageable 30Mb, although I’m not happy with the drop in quality so a little more practice is needed, I feel. Any tips on this stuff will be gratefully received.

Uploading to YouTube couldn’t have been easier, and I just shared it directly from the gallery on the Nexus and in seconds it was up on my channel for all the world to see, like this ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m not sure what my plans are, but I’d like to film some of my son’s builds and post them here and on his blog here. We’ll see, we’ll see…

Frak me!

No, really… frak me… if this is actual game play then I may just have squeed in a crowded office with excitement.

This suddenly looks like a totally amazing game again ๐Ÿ˜€
