Mari comes a-callin’

A while back I was up in my (very basic) sky workshop high high high above St Helens when Mari came over to see the wooden wood-work lathe I was building…

Mari’s a cracking builder so it’s always nice to show her stuff as I’m still such a noob at it (and I think I always will be). She was a great help with my log cabin and I wanted to show her that I’d actually started enjoying building after moaning on at her about how tedious rezzing and moving and colouring prim-after-prim-after-prim could be. Here she is with my lathe and guide pictures taken from t’interweb behind her (I was in the middle of altering all the textures so the final result looks a bit different, but that’s for another post)…

After I picked her brains we chatted for a while and she showed me the Primmer cars that were going to used in Bay City’s 2nd Anniversary parade – based on the American Shriners I just can’t stop smiling when I see them!

 

The Bay City Blues…

I missed Bay City’s 2nd Anniversary Parade. After all that planning I sodding well missed it. I didn’t mean to but the Gods that rule either/or/and (delete as appropriate) SL’s lag & my PC conspired to give me a whole weekend of crashe. Things would start out OK, but then everything would start t o g e t v e r y s l o w

ARGH! In the end I couldn’t get back in so I buggered off to watch telly & brood. I did manage to take some shots before I exited the field stage left – here are a selection but there are lots more in the Bay City Flickr Group. Nova Albion’s 6th Anniversary Parade

It’s that time of year again – paradin’ time! First is Nova Albion’s celebrations for its founding in March 2004 and this year the event was planned by the always energetic LisaHot Juran (who also arranged a stage & 3 hours of live music after the event!).

Osprey wanted to recreate the history 1887 Attack of the Ducks and so lots of us dressed as ducks and took to the streets with budgies, orcs, sword-maidens, Babbage urchins, Bay City kids to name but a few!

We all fought through fierce lag storms that blocked loads of folks out and even bent time itself so sims appeared to wink out of existence…

By the time we reached the end, we could see Salazar had nearly rebuilt the famous arch laid low by a grid quake last year…

Before the music kicked in (and I crashed out for an hour – bloody SL!) we had the street naming ceremony where the road outside Pituca Fairchang’s park & windmill was named after her late SL & RL partner, Garth. His passing is still felt by many residents and for me it was lovely to meet Pituca for the first time.

Next is the Bay City Parade and then maybe I can persuade the Steelhead Town Council to hold one, eh?

Bay City’s 2nd Anniversary Parade – Coming Soon!

Hard to believe that it’s been two years since the Moles finished the last lick of paint on the (then) newest city in SL and the eager beavers who wanted a slice of Americana were preparing to move in. I took part in the opening parade but missed the first anniversary one as I was away (damn RL!). I’m hoping I’ll be able to make it this year but the date and time are yet to be fixed. Keep your eye on the Bay City Twitter channel and you could do worse than following Mari & Holo’s blogs

 

Nova Albion 6th Anniversary Parade – Planning Begins!

It’s that time of year again – March is the anniversary of Nova Albion’s opening after Magellan found it on behalf of the Lab and February is the time the residents & friends of the city get together to plan the parade to commemorate this historic event.

LisaHot Juran, Nova Albion fan extraordinaire, called together a meeting to discuss the time, place and plans for 2010′s sixth anniversary and plenty of people came to help…

The ever busy Osprey laid out plans for routes as well as displayed the posters for the parade & the renactment of the historic invasion of ducks…

Finally, LJ rezzed up the new street signs she’s been working on to seek comments – I love ‘em! Really American and clear and stylish!

I’ll be posting more about the parade as it draws near, but for now pencil Saturday March 20th 2pm SLT into your diaries because you are all welcome to join in the fun! Come and walk, run, ride or fly with us! Why not grab a free float base from the vendors in the city and build your own float to join the parade

Three Times The Fun!

Big time kudos to Holo, Mari and the others from Bay City for organising the first ever Tri-Cities parade (and to Osprey for her usual bang-up job on publicity) because the Halloween march through the cities and leap off Shermville bridge was a hoot! Everything happened on time and the party under the water afterwards was a blast!

The Tri-Cities Halloween Parade

Starting at noon (SLT) on Sunday 1st November, the Tri-Cities (Nova Albion, Bay City & Shermville) are holding a HUGE “Day of the Dead” halloween parade and it’s open to all! Find out more over on Osprey’s blog here as well as Holo’s blog and Mariane’s blog. See you there!

Nova Albion 5th Anniversary – Photos!

I made it with three minutes to spare and everywhere was full so it was, to put it mildly, hard work moving and seeing but that didn’t dampen the atmosphere any and the parade through Nova Albion was a huge laugh! This pic was taken at the border on Luna where the parade ended up – we were noisy, big and setting fireworks off with a vengeance

I went round on good old Frank because my dear old float was borked by lag…

Other people had more luck with even magallen showing up… sort of
