Y’know how the Moles have been working over in Kapor?

Well I’ve been popping back to see what they’ve been up to and back in March Naughty Mole finished her work there (as well as in neigbouring Rosedale – more of that in a future post) and it’s very different from her work in Murray. In place of Murray’s seaside charm she’s slapped on a thick layer of camp Easter fun…

The eggs and lolipops are clickable for wearable goodies and the bunnies are hoppy floppy cute

But best of all are the rideable egg-balloon things – there is simply no macho way of sitting on them

Get yourself over there and have a poke about – it’s good, clean, silly fun and who doesn’t need some of that every now and then, eh?

Murray, ahhh Murray. Shining jewel of the inland sea (well, *near* the inland sea) where the Moles have been busy and Burros slightly less so. The LDPW has long ago moved on to fix up other sims and I’ve been tardy about exploring all the shiny new aspects of my old home – well no more! I popped back in to take a trip around the old homestead in one of Naughty Mole’s free yachts…

I took it for a spin past the beach huts, the channel here is narrow and I pranged the rudder a fair few times so be warned!

It looks like a much larger vessel may have tried a while back and now only its rotting carcass marks the spot where it ran aground…

At least the previous (and I hope long gone!) owners were good enough to leave a little something behind

Sailing into deep(er) water I noticed three creates bobbing on the surface…

When I got to them I could see something beneath the waves… time to dive!

It seems these waters used to be a whole lot rougher than they appear to be now – yet another wreck was half-buried in the sand and silt with flooded crates now no more than homes for some very cute wildlife

Pop over to Murray and explore for yourself – the locals are (mostly) friendly and you’ll be slap-bang in the middle of SL’s first sims

It’s that time of year again – paradin’ time! First is Nova Albion’s celebrations for its founding in March 2004 and this year the event was planned by the always energetic LisaHot Juran (who also arranged a stage & 3 hours of live music after the event!).

Osprey wanted to recreate the history 1887 Attack of the Ducks and so lots of us dressed as ducks and took to the streets with budgies, orcs, sword-maidens, Babbage urchins, Bay City kids to name but a few!

We all fought through fierce lag storms that blocked loads of folks out and even bent time itself so sims appeared to wink out of existence…

By the time we reached the end, we could see Salazar had nearly rebuilt the famous arch laid low by a grid quake last year…

Before the music kicked in (and I crashed out for an hour – bloody SL!) we had the street naming ceremony where the road outside Pituca Fairchang’s park & windmill was named after her late SL & RL partner, Garth. His passing is still felt by many residents and for me it was lovely to meet Pituca for the first time.

Next is the Bay City Parade and then maybe I can persuade the Steelhead Town Council to hold one, eh?
p.s. Mark your diaries now – March 2011 for the 7th Nova Albion Anniversary Parade – come along and join in the fun!

Waaaaay back last year a grid-quake caused the collapse of the long-standing arch in the Grignano quarter of Nova Albion city…

Well recently Salazar hired a (frankly bloody enormous) crane and started repairing it in time for the city’s 6th anniversary parade and I just had to go and take a look.

Like I said, one bloody big crane!

Time for an update on Murray, my old home, I think. What? You agree? Goodo!
Well, I popped over recently and found that Naughty Mole has added a metric tone of plants to beautify the place as well as some rather lovely paths with half a mountain of buried stones. She’s also added some Brighton style beach huts and one of them is a nifty place for changing your appearance – try it, it’s pretty clever

Whilst there I bumped into Naughty Mole (who’s been charged with renovating the old infohub) and her colleague Silent Mole (who looked a little different the last time I met her
) and they were working on the cool toobs (they were updating the scripts in them, but they were using original Ben Linden toobs from 2004!

It’s that time of year again – March is the anniversary of Nova Albion’s opening after Magellan found it on behalf of the Lab and February is the time the residents & friends of the city get together to plan the parade to commemorate this historic event.
LisaHot Juran, Nova Albion fan extraordinaire, called together a meeting to discuss the time, place and plans for 2010′s sixth anniversary and plenty of people came to help…

The ever busy Osprey laid out plans for routes as well as displayed the posters for the parade & the renactment of the historic invasion of ducks…

Finally, LJ rezzed up the new street signs she’s been working on to seek comments – I love ‘em! Really American and clear and stylish!

I’ll be posting more about the parade as it draws near, but for now pencil Saturday March 20th 2pm SLT into your diaries because you are all welcome to join in the fun! Come and walk, run, ride or fly with us! Why not grab a free float base from the vendors in the city and build your own float to join the parade
You can see pictures from the last two parades here and here and read more posts about Nova Albion here.

Marianne McCann is a busy lass! I’m pretty sure that when you read this she’ll either be at camp or just on her way back and no doubt she’ll have at least three projects ready to roll. One of the latest she has completed is her brilliant information centre in Nova Albion – I took Frank out for a stroll to have a looksee…

In a really small space and with less prims than some people have in a single piece of furniture she’s a built a beautifully designed (and fun!) welcome and info area for people to find out more about Nova Albion, Bay City, The Tri-City Area and Sansara. Add a crazy Sno-Kone robot and you have the perfect place for newbies (and oldbies!) to find out more about the oldest land in SL
Go and see it here.

Don’t forget to get your sno-kone… but don’t try and sit on the robot

Have a click around and you might just get a free tee

Cheers for the great resource Mari!

A few months ago I heard disturbing rumours that the iconic archway of Nova Albion in Grignano, shown in its full glory in the picture above, had collapsed. I made a trip over and was saddned to find that the beautiful span created and gifted to the city by Lordfly Didgeridoo in 2005 in pieces strewn across the bay beneath them…

How had this happened? And how can we fix it? I’ll ask around and let you know what I find out…
