Over on Tales of Tyria, Bridger & his merry war band of co-presenters have released a great podcast talking about their experiences in last weekend’s beta event. It’s fair to say they enjoyed it, but managed to cover a hell of a lot more ground than I did such as PvP, WvW, trading & guilds. Anyhoo, take a listen here: http://www.talesoftyria.com/tales-of-tyria/2012/5/1/tales-of-tyria-29-the-battle-for-dreaming-bay.html

#GW2: A Great Beta Review Podcast
Over on Contains Moderate Peril Roger & Brian have released a great podcast talking about their experiences in last weekend’s beta event. It’s fair to say they enjoyed it, but like me are still reserving judgement until the final game is released and has been running for while. Anyhoo, take a listen here: http://www.containsmoderateperil.com/contains-moderate-peril-episode-57-guild-wars-2-beta-event/
Podcasts I Like - Updated
Reblogged from Blog de la Burro:
I've been listening to a lot more podcasts recently, filling my car journey to and from work with interesting & amusing discussions on MMOs and I thought it was about time I shared these with you. Will I ever stop giving?
Massively Speaking: I started listening to this one just as the long running host was leaving and although I'd never heard of Massively before I was an instant convert to both the blog and the podcast which covers all the developments and news in the world of MMOs.

I’ve been listening to a lot more podcasts recently, filling my car journey to and from work with interesting & amusing discussions on MMOs and I thought it was about time I shared these with you. Will I ever stop giving?
Massively Speaking: I started listening to this one just as the long running host was leaving and although I’d never heard of Massively before I was an instant convert to both the blog and the podcast which covers all the developments and news in the world of MMOs. The hosts, Justin & Bree, are great – funny, knowledgeable and always entertaining so grab their RSS here: http://massively.joystiq.com/category/massively-speaking/rss.xml
MMO Reporter Network: A great series of podcasts covering general MMO news as well as specific games such as LOTRO, Rift, SWTOR & Guild Wars. Chris and Bill are the main hosts and have a great relationship together, but their other guest hosts are just as good too and all of them bring a lot of enthusiasm for, and love of, MMOs to their podcasts. All in all, you should be listening to these guys here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/mmo_reporter
Casual Stroll to Mordor: Probably the best LOTRO podcast out there, Merric & Goldenstar cover every aspect of LOTRO from game play through festival guides and all the way to developer diaries and class discussions, all whilst looking after a baby hobbit, beating off bats and reminding us married listeners just how much fun being married can be
Their feed is: http://casualstrolltomordor.com/category/episodes/feed/
Sally Forth in Middle Earth: Although Doc hasn’t released one for a while, when he does they are a great source of information from a very experienced gamer who really knows how to put a podcast together: http://docholidaymmo.com/category/podcast/feed/
LOTRO Beneath Your Feet: Quite simply the best podcast about LOTRO that *isn’t* about gaming. Shipwreck puts together a very professional product that expands your knowledge of not only the game but Tolkien’s lore that underpins it. You *must* listen to all of these now! http://www.cyberears.com/podcasts/podcast_5931.xml
LOTRO Cast: A great podcast that stands out for the series of lore driven episodes that explain the background to the Middle Earth setting of the game. This is another that all LOTRO players should listen to: http://www.cyberears.com/index.php/Show/audio/5890
LOTRO Academy: A great podcast from newbies rather than seasoned end-gamers: http://lotroacademy.com/?cat=3/
Through the Palantir: A very interesting series of podcasts centred on the Player vs Player aspect of LOTRO: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThroughThePalantr
Secrets of Middle Earth: A charming series of podcasts from a priest (really!) who plays and discussed his journeys with friends. There’s no other podcast quite like this one: http://middleearth.sqpn.com/feed/
GuildCast on Gamebreaker TV: Although the original GuildCast (covering Guild Wars 1 & latterly 2) was audio only it is now a videoblog over on the really spiffy Gamebreaker TV: http://www.gamebreaker.tv/mmorpg/guild-wars-2-mmorpg/
Too Long Didn’t Listen: Merric & Justin bilther on for 30 or more minutes about two topics in the MMO world. Always funny, always informed, always free next time – listen to them all now! http://mmoreporter.com/category/podcast/too-long-didnt-listen-podcast/
Relics of Orr: A great podcast that focuses on Guild Wars 1 & 2 and I’m addicted! The hosts are funny and the show makes me laugh every time. The show RSS feed is: http://www.cyan-studios.net/relics/?feed=podcast
Contains Moderate Peril: Last but certainly not least is probably my favourite of all. CMP is presented by Roger & Brian (with occasional co-hosts) who are two very funny, sceptical old buggers who know a lot about MMOs, films and stuff in general – most entertaining. I’m in slight mourning as Brian is taking a break but I hope he’ll be back soon. In the meantime do what I’m doing and devour their entire back catalogue now! http://www.containsmoderateperil.com/category/podcast/
LOTRO Podcasts: CSTM Roundtables FTW :)
By far the best way I have found to learn about all the skills and moves my LOTRO characters have are the brilliant CSTM Roundtables, looooong padcast chats with people who play a certain type of character so much and so well they can really help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your own. Ever wondered what your stances are good for? Ever asked yourself what attacks to use and when? Then wonder and ask no more! Instead listen to the roundtables because they come Highly Recommended with a Burro Thumbs-Up! for noobs like me and well as end-gamers and MMO experts. Head over to CSTM and download them now!

LOTRO: Podcasts I Like – Part The Two
Some more podcasts for you here – I don’t know, since finding LOTRO I’ve become quite the podcast listener and spend far too much time in a morning downloading them to my phone via Google Listen so I can play them as I drive to and from work. I’ve made my Google Reader Listen section public so you can see what I’m listening to should you so wish – in the meantime add these feeds to your own reader/podcast thingy and enjoy
- Sally Forth in LOTRO – A brilliant podcast from knowledgeable old hand Doc Holiday. Whilst aimed at experienced players there is plenty in each one for a LOTRO noob like me and I never felt lost. Also the audio quality is excellent and he has a great radio voice so it makes listening a breeze not a chore.
- One True Cast – A funny podcast from my fellow countrymen. I like this a lot, especially as they laugh and swear throughout – Brits FTW
, but I’ll be damned if I can find a podcast feed – just add their blog feed to your reader and lookout for podcasts is my advice: http://www.questhard.com/
LOTRO: Podcasts I like
I’ve never really bothered about podcasts before. There are several reasons – I’m not much of an audio guy, SL was never *that* interesting, and as I’d only ever listen on my phone and audio downloads can be a pain in the neck to deal with I simply couldn’t be arsed.
But in my fervour to learn as much as possible about LOTRO as quickly as I can I’ve actually been using Google Listen on my phone (Android FTW
) to catch up with three rather good podcasts and if you would like to know more about how passionate people are about the world of LOTRO, then head over and listen to:
- LOTRO Reporter – Two Canadian mates chat & discuss & say ‘a-boot’ a lot
- LiquidLOTRO – Two US mates chat about being new to the game (although not to RP MMOs)
- A Casual Stroll to Mordor – US hubby & wife who are oldbies in the game discuss everything LOTRO and even hold ’round table’ style focus chats on specific topics.
If & when I find more, I let you know – I’ve started a LOTRO links section in the right hand menu bar of this blog for more link-goodness, I’ll push interesting links & news on my Twitter, my Buzz and the LOTRO section of my Google Reader Shared Page
