I’m not around at the moment but whilst away I am keeping up with blogs and podcasts and it was when checking Massively I found their latest podcast had used one of my Steelhead pictures & mentioned an email I sent them about how great Second Life is for lovers of sandboxes – check it out at about 42 minutes in.

Well now! I know I’ve been out-of-world for as while, but this is just rude!
LOTRO isn’t the only place I go fishing in cyberspace, although for a true 3D angler you’ll need to meet Holo 
I may live down in the slums with the poorest residents of Shamian Alley, but don’t let that fool you that we are too poor for good food. From small pots of earth growing all manner of vegetables on every rotting window sill and ricketty balcony to the bounty of the sea that surrounds us, we eat as well, as if not better, than some in the city’s capital.
I’ve been working on and off to recreate a Marlowe-esque office for my Bay City PI, Bryce Carter. This is it so far (although the av’s look and AO have changed now)

I’ve been re-establishing my links with my old stomping grounds on the Sansara mainland recently and as part of that I’ve been checking out my old place in Cowell (kicked off in part by tweets from the Trust who look after Kahruvel and a visit to the village by Tish) and I’ve remembered just why I love the place
This is the view along the canal from east to west.

The one thing Cowell needs is people. Its streets are empty, its square quiet. It has a community hall with no community to meet in it. If what I hear from Sal is right, that might be about to change and the Trust might… just might… be about to open up the village for rentals

My mate Nish first alerted me to ghosts in SL a couple of years ago – she was hunting them back then, looking for dots on the map where there were no people or finding avs that were trapped between planes. Over the years I’d forgotten about her quest until a few weeks ago when I happened to notice an odd collection of dots in a strange, old mainland sim called Cyclops.
Cyclops lies at the very top of the north west corner of Sansara, the first continent, and is the start of a short run of single-width sims that links Sansara with the second continent of Heterocera (formed by a meteor strike and discovered by Magellan, dontcyaknow). There is nothing there – it’s just sea, ocean without islands or ships or anything. Hell, there’s not even any mole built ‘stuff’ in the sea (the Moles and LDPW always sem to bring the seas they work in to life, like they did in Murray) so what the hell were the dots all about? LittleLostLinden has an interesting theory about Linden Lab tolerating bots as they pump the ‘online now’ numbers up… could these be bots like the ones I found near the Valley of The Burros in Nutsedge? Or could they be poor, lost souls condemned to wander (or rather stand stock still on) the bottom of the ocean forever? You decide…
