I’ve been meaning to cover Enjah & Osprey’s blogs in this occasional series for ages, but it’s taken me ages to get around to them. Enjah first as I’ve just found out that she has combined her many blogs into one that covers her RL as well as her many lives in SL. Philosphical thoughts blend with step by step descriptions of her artwork mix with explorations and tales of her extensive (and I mean HUGE) family in-world. So hop over to their new home here and immerse yourself in a wonderful mix of RL and SL gems

RL Post: Never mind power, knowledge is fun!
I may have disliked school, but I’ve always loved learning. I’m a learner for learning sake and in a recent post, Young(1) opened my eyes and mind to a great resource for learning on the web – the TED Talks. In her (wonderfully eloquant) post Young not only discussed about the democrotisation of education, but also set myself, Enjah & Osprey a task – watch a selected TED Talk and discuss. I’m not much of a discusser, really – talker yes, discusser no – so my views will no doubt be largely positive & supportive. I can’t help it – I was never cut out to be a critic
Young asked me to look over this TED Talk: Majora Carter: Greening the ghetto. In RL I work in the regen field, specifically in sustainable community development, so Madam Geoffrion quite rightly suspected this would tickle my fancy. From the engaging speaker to the joyful message she brought, I LOVED it! Majora’s personal, emotional style suited me down to the ground. And her message! How a country as rich and powerful as the US can allow such inequity in the basic quality of its people’s lives is a source of shame that will astound future generations. But the energy, drive, determination and potential of humans the world over displayed by Marjora is simply amazing. We waste so much. So much and it’s so wrong. But stories like these (and I can point to similar ones here too) are beacons in the dark. Thank you Young, Thank you for my beacon
You can watch all the TED Talk videos on YouTube here – I’ve downloaded a lot via RSS from the main TED.com site and I’m going to watch at least one a day (I managed two on the way to work this morning as the fecking bus was late – must have been all that torrential rain I was stood in for half an hour that slowed the driver down :-/ )
p.s. (1) Actually Os had shown me the TED site a couple of months ago to try and help with an assignment I was working on, but I was so focused on that I didn’t pay enough attention. What a waste! Sorry Os, you tried and I was too tied up in that stupid course to listen

=======================================
(Soon to be found at Grignano Books)
Through the foul, dread night she rode, like a man possessed but in a woman’s body and riding side saddle to boot. A hoot! An owl cried in the inky black and her horse, already half mad with fear and mouldy apples, had a seizure and dropped dead on the spot. M’lady flew through the air and sluiced to a stop in the sticky mud. Behind her she heard her pursuer’s horse slam to a stop with a start as it hit the already rotting carcass of her own ex-mount. With a rebel yell, a dark, powerful shape came slithering along the muddy trail and rolled manfully on top of her.
“Unhand me, you wretch!” she demanded.
“M’lady, I can assure you my hands are nowhere near you.” He replied, his voice a curious combination of silk wrapped honey and cobbler’s tacks.
She looked and saw his leather gloved hands propping him up either side of her shoulders, “Well at least move that damn sword hilt, man!”
“M’lady, I’m not wearing a sword…” he growled in a way that sent a thrill down her spine and through her hips. Unbeknownst to her, it carried on down her legs, through her boot and into the ground where it travelled into the forest and felled a moose.
She could not help but push her fulsome hips upwards to investigate. Their findings were entirely to her liking and within seconds her nimble hands had joined in the investigation and were already uncovering his reward.
“You rode hard and fast tonight,” she hissed as she grasped his stallion and led it to her very own secret hay bale, “but let’s see if you are masterful in my saddle, you dog!”
“Oddsbodkins!” was all he could reply as he went cross-eyed and donned a stupid smile…

Another night with friends
Way back in March I was sat all alone on the edge of the SL museum in Phobos (next to the Eleanor Theatre – you can’t miss it) sending out notecards for the Nova Albion 5th anniversary parade when who should hove into view but Enjah!

I finished up and leapt into The Seahorse for a trip around the bay…

…before she whipped out her trusty airship to fly us north towards Davenport…

…via Bodega (hey! I can see Osprey’s house!)

Passing through the western most edge of Bodega we found a sleeping Young akip on her feet amid the foundations of her new home (now finished – read about it here)

Young woke up in time for Enjah to jet us all off to the west, past her new tree house…

And as the evening drew in about us, we settled down for a cup of tea…

…and a game of make the Burro blush as he pretends to write a blog post!

All too soon night had descended (rather in the manner of a stunned sparrow, I thought – falling quietly & from above) and my friends had to depart. Funny how the house seems so depressingly quiet when your party is over…

I’m a very lucky Burro indeed – here’s to good friends!

Making Robots with Osprey
I’ve not been online much of late – it hassles gave way to family illness and I’ve not had much time to comee in-world. But I did manage to geet in for a bit to see Os & Enjah and Os cheered me right up with a great trip to a robot museum sim so we could have a go on Madcow Cosmos’ brilliant Robot Avatar Making Thingie!

It’s dead simple – use the controls to choose the type of head, body, limbs, etc. you want & just press the button to make it. Poof! It appears in your inventory ready to wear!

You can then move to the paintshop pad and alter the colour & texture of your new body.

As you can see from above, I’m a fan of symmetry where as Os is far braver than me ![]()

Here we both are, looking splendid!

Even in robot form, I’m mind weepingly handsome ![]()
